How to Tackle the 6 Million Things on Your To-Do List (Without Losing Your Mind) and Embrace the “Perfectly Imperfect” Mary Poppins Way!

Jun 22, 2025

Let’s be honest: if you’re running your own business, your to-do list probably feels like it has six million things on it. And you? Well, you’re only one person. How is this even possible? It can feel like a never-ending marathon of tasks, deadlines, and decisions.

But here’s a little secret from Mary Poppins: “In every job that must be done, there is an element of fun!” So why not sprinkle a bit of that magic into your to-do list today? 🌟

1. Take a Moment to Breathe (Seriously!)
I bet you’re reading this while juggling five things at once - but just pause. Take a deep breath, stretch, relax your shoulders. Remember, you’re the boss here, not your to-do list.

Hustle Step: Try a quick mini meditation or stretch before you dive in. You’ll feel way more grounded and ready to tackle those tasks. 🧘‍♀️

2. Prioritise Like a Boss
Everything feels urgent, right? But not everything is urgent. Take a minute to sort through your chaos and decide what really needs your attention today — and what can wait till later.

Hustle Step: Grab a pen or your fav app and divide your list into:

  • Must Do Today

  • Can Wait

  • I’ll Deal With It Later (or maybe never)

Focus on the Must Do’s first - and give yourself grace for what doesn’t make the cut. This is a marathon, not a sprint! 🏃‍♀️

3. Delegate Like a Pro
You’re not Superman (even if your to-do list makes you feel like you should be). Ask for help where you can. Whether it’s a team or outsourcing, it’s one of the smartest moves you can make.

Hustle Step: Look at your list and ask, “Is this only something I can do? Or can someone else handle it?” Delegate what you can. Your business—and your sanity-will thank you.

4. Time Block Like a Boss
Give each task its own VIP section at the party. Block out focused chunks of time and don’t forget to schedule breaks-you can’t hustle without refuelling. ⏰

Hustle Step: For example, 9–11am = social media, 11–12pm = emails, etc.

5. Tackle the Toughest Tasks First
That one task you’re dreading? Just get it done first thing. When it’s out of the way, everything else feels easier.

Hustle Step: Attack that task when you’re freshest—usually first thing in the morning for me.

6. Celebrate the Small Wins (They Matter!)
Crossed off three things? That’s a win! Don’t wait till your list is finished to celebrate. Every little step forward counts.

Hustle Step: After each task, take a moment to give yourself a mini cheer -whether it’s a coffee, a quick dance, or a “heck yes, I got this!”

7. Remember Your “Why”
When it feels overwhelming and you want to hide under the desk with chocolate, remind yourself why you started. Your heart and hustle will carry you through.

Hustle Step: Write down your why on a sticky note and keep it visible. It’s your secret weapon.

8. Let Go of Perfectionism
Perfectionism is a trap. Done is better than perfect, especially when you’re juggling a million things.

Hustle Step: Give yourself permission to be imperfect and keep moving forward. Progress beats perfection every time.

9. Ask for Feedback and Get Outside Perspective
When you’re stuck in the weeds, fresh eyes can help you see the bigger picture.

Hustle Step: Reach out to a mentor, coach, or friend for advice or a fresh perspective.

10. Have Fun with It!
Business is hard, but it should also be fun. Laughter relieves stress and keeps your heart in the game.

Hustle Step: Play your favourite tunes, dance while you work, or treat yourself when you tick off something big.

There you have it — six million tasks, and you’re still standing strong. With a little prioritising, delegating, and time-blocking, you’ve got this.

Remember, it’s all heart and hustle. You’re building something amazing and perfectly imperfect — just like Mary Poppins said.

You’ve got this! ✨
